IMG_3342

For this year’s Scouting for Food campaign, Scouts from Troop 108 collected 65 bags of groceries for the Strengthen Our Sisters Center. The shelter helps victims of domestic violence, and currently houses about 150 women and children.

Great job guys!

NNJC Award Recipients from Troop 108

The Eleventh Annual Northern New Jersey Council Recognition Dinner was held at the Westmount Country Club on May 18. Ellen Johnson received an adult Venturing Leadership award, Brian received a youth Venturing Leadership Award, and Ed Keane received the Silver Beaver Award. DSC07399

The Silver Beaver Award was established in 1931 and is the highest honor a local council of the Boy Scouts of American can bestow on a registered adult leader. Recipients of this award are individuals that have truly made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to a Boy Scout Council.

2009/05/15 Beach Jam!

Scouts and adults from Troop 108 had a great weekend at Beach Jam in Wildwood. Eight scouts earned their Oceanography merit badge, and all enjoyed Unlimited rides, buffet breakfast and dinner, and camping on the beach – what more could you want? Oh right, the weather. It was a little foggy.

Alex, Jake, and Matt completed their Order of the Arrow Ordeal weekend at Camp Turrell on May 1-3, 2009.  It was a weekend full of rain, work, and camaraderie.

The purpose of the Order of the Arrow is fourfold:

1. To recognize those Scout campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives

2. To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit

3. To promote Scout camping

4. To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others

Scouting for Food Collections Due May 5

There’s no troop meeting on May 5, but please drop off your Scouting for Food collections at 7:30 PM.
